# Auto-Chronicle historical review

Reviewed: September 5, 2026

This note accompanies [Engineering the Auto-Chronicle](https://greyforge.tech/chronicles/engineering-the-auto-chronicle) and [The Automated Chronicle Agent](https://greyforge.tech/chronicles/automated-chronicle-agent-self-replicating-documentation).

The retained authoring code supports an early attempt to generate a structured draft, scaffold a page, update publication-related files, and invoke a build/publication path. Source code describes what a program was written to do. It is not, by itself, a record that a particular run succeeded or a page was deployed.

The recursive article described additional ideas: observing repository changes, selecting context, caching structure, streaming synthesis, and triggering documentation about the documenter. The retained authoring script does not establish that those proposed stages existed together or worked. Successful operation, comparative performance, archival completeness, and deployment remain unverified in this review.

The script parsed JSON and used expected fields. The reviewed material does not establish formal JSON Schema validation or an autonomous correction loop.

The retired generator also requested named “expert commentary” as model output. No separate consultation record was located for the two articles' attributed blocks. Later editorial wording is now presented as unattributed analysis, without a quoted expert identity or Person/Quotation structured data. This correction does not assert that every other historical attribution has the same provenance; those require their own review.

The February 2026 publication dates and article URLs are retained. Earlier versions remain in version history. These are historical design accounts, not current operating instructions, endorsements, or proof that the retired pipeline remains active.
