It introduces two explicit packing objectives. `compact` is the no-argument default and searches the canonical candidate portfolio for the smallest complete archive. `fast` runs a fixed reduced candidate schedule qualified under an explicit lifecycle contract. This source note publishes the release identity, artifact digests, bounded qualification result, and limitations needed to evaluate the public claims. Peak memory for every operation stayed within the declared allowance. ## Rejected schedule The schedule originally designed as `fast` was rejected before this release. Under clean-lab confirmation its test cost was approximately 1.83 times `compact` and its unpack cost approximately 1.61 times `compact`, against a lifecycle limit of 1.25. The released `fast` objective is the schedule that satisfied the complete lifecycle contract. The rejected schedule is not reachable through the released objective surface. ## Release lineage - ZJX 1.25 was published as a private, authenticated release and withdrawn before public distribution because its exact runtime reported the `fast` objective as `production-qualification-pending`, contradicting the release claim. Its tag, assets, notes, and evidence remain preserved with a dated withdrawal notice. - ZJX 1.25.1 corrected that status string, added a regression assertion for the exact API surface, and underwent a fresh exact-byte qualification cycle with new binaries, a new 48-start campaign, and new release validation. - Earlier candidate binaries containing private build metadata were never published. ## Limitations - Performance ratios apply to the frozen laboratory host, four corpora, commands, repetitions, and thresholds of the qualifying campaign. - The figures are not guarantees for other machines, files, codecs, or workloads. - `fast` carries a published size budget. The campaign observed no penalty; other inputs may. - Zero size penalty on four corpora does not establish that the canonical search is redundant. - Release validation used the sealed candidate and published assets.
